Objectives
Informal Retail Vendors
The informal street economy has been identified as one of the biggest contributors in assisting unemployed people provide for themselves. These sectors have a low level barrier to entry but is often still out of reach of those who can benefit the most from it. Startupbizaid was created to bridge this shortfall by raising funds up to a maximumn amount of R3500.00 per instance for succesfull applicants. Funding is adjusted according to the level of inputs required and is offered as a once off package per beneficiary household.
This funding is specifically targetted at street vendors whishing to set up concession stands to sell fresh produce, cooked food items or snacks or persons with access to land to do micro vegetable farming. In some instances assistance provided may include air time, taxi fare and equipment from a local supplier. We also provide advise and assistance to beneficiaries on a on going basis to ensure that they remain sustainable and successfull.
Applicants must be legal South African Citizens with relevant documentary proof. Further requirements are a South African Bank Account, email address, phone number and address. Any other information requirements will be communicated to the applicant via email or telephonically. The vetting process is designed to be straight forward and every attempt will be made to prevent fraudulent applications.
We aim to create and assist 1000 vendors accross the country this term at a cost of R350.000.00 which we hope to raise over the next few months. Any donations are greatly appreciated and will go a long way to help secure the future of a family in need.
Elder Assistance Program
This program was initiated to assist the most fragile community in our country, many of our elderly population have dependents. This has occured due to the dismall labour markets and apathy among our youth. Often the elderly find themselves facing hardships that exceed putting a plate of food on the table. We recieve many requests from the elderly to assist with basic inputs such as food, electricity, taxi fare and home repairs.
In most instances we direct capable dependents towards starting a micro business but this is often not possible. As a consequence we still believe these people need some form of help and in an attempt to assist them without infringing on our primary focus, we created the Elderly Assistance Program. This program aids the elderly with emergency assistance, the scope of this is varied and ranges from minor household repairs, electricity vouchers, food vouchers and other low cost assitive measures.
In situations where we are unable to find assistance for the effected person from local community charities and social services we allocate funds towards rectifying the situation to the best of our ability. There is a lot we can do and your help in this regard is always be appreciated.
